Some mornings feel like a full-on cardio session before 8 a.m. Kids, breakfast, “where is your shoe”, “no you cannot wear that”, and somehow you’re already tired.
But then… there are those rare, magical mornings.
The ones where the kids follow their routine. No chaos. No negotiations. No missing socks. And suddenly, you have time. Actual time.
That’s when I lean into my regular paced morning skincare routine.
And let me be clear about one thing. I am not stepping outside without taking care of my skin. Ever. My future self deserves better than that.
The Balance & Bloom Approach to Skincare
At Balance & Bloom Co., it’s never about doing the absolute most. It’s about doing what works, consistently, without stress.
Even on my “I have time today” mornings, I am not doing ten layers of skincare. We are not competing with influencers. We are trying to glow and get out the door.
So my rule is simple. If a product can do double duty, I want it.
On some mornings, sunscreen carries the weight. On other mornings, my moisturizer does the heavy lifting. I like to mix things up depending on the season and whether my wallet is on board. It’s basically me testing new brands and hoping my skin doesn’t stage a protest.
That’s why I love products with hyaluronic acid already in them. Hydration without extra steps. Because let’s be real, more steps means more chances to quit halfway.
My Go-To Morning Skincare Routine (This Season)
Here’s what my routine looks like when life is cooperating:
Cleanser
I start with Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water; gentle, quick, and it does the job without making my skin feel stripped. Perfect for mornings when you want clean skin without the drama.
Toner
Next up is Thayers Milky Face Toner, With Hyaluronic Acid. This one keeps my skin smooth and helps unclog pores. It’s like a quiet overachiever in my routine.
Vitamin C Serum
Right now, it is Sunday Riley C.E.O. Vitamin C Brightening Serum. This is my glow step. It helps brighten my skin and makes me look a little more alive, even if I was up late doing “just one more thing”.
Moisturizer
For hydration, I use Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Lotion with Hyaluronic Acid
This is where I simplify. The hyaluronic acid is already in there, so I skip the extra serum most days. Skin stays hydrated, and I save time.
Sunscreen
And finally, the non-negotiable
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen SPF 40
Because protecting your skin is just as important as treating it. Actually, it might be more important.
No sunscreen, no glow. It’s that simple.
Real Talk
You do not need a complicated routine to take care of your skin.
You need consistency.
You need products that work for you and your life.
And you need to give yourself a little grace on the chaotic mornings.
Some days you will do all the steps.
Some days it’s cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and a prayer.
Both count.
Because at the end of the day, taking care of your skin is also a form of taking care of yourself.
And around here, that always matters.
